Abbreviation Stroke

7 & Older

1) Using a Sharpie (yes, a sharpie), mark your swimmer's number on the outside of BOTH their arms/biceps. Your swimmer's number will be the same all season, please take note. Also, mark them with their age ABOVE their number.

2) On the inside of your swimmer's right or left forearm, write the abbreviation for each event they are participating in.

3) EXAMPLES: Below each abbreviation, write the lane, stroke or lane number, depending on the event they're participating in.

  • Medley Relay**
    • MR
    • L2 - Lane 2
    • FLY/3 - Butterfly/3rd Swimmer
    • no Heats, all relays are H1-Main Events
  • Medley Relay**
    • MR
    • L1 - Lane 1
    • BK/1 - Backstroke/1st Swimmer
    • no Heats, all relays are H1-Main Events
  • Freestyle
    • F
    • H2 - Heat 2
    • L2 - Lane 2
  • Backstroke
    • BK
    • H1 - Heat 1
    • L4 - Lane 4
  • Breaststroke

On the day of the swim meet - you will be sent the event details for your swimmer. Based on the event schedule, mark your swimmer's arm accordingly.

NOTE: ALL RELAYS are H1-Main Events, so heat is not needed to be marked on the arm.
